You will need to have a rotary or linear in-line filling container to fill the proprietary containers for our application. The ideal filling machine specification that we are looking for:

Energy costs are going up, so why not opt for an energy efficient One-Shot® soft serve solution?

The main theme of this blog is to discuss The Real Profit Story for dispensing frozen desserts, plus by giving you the facts, you can decide if a One-Shot® or a traditional soft serve machine is more cost effective. We also have a Real Profit Story LinkedIn Group that you may wish to join (click here).

The Real Profit Story is not just about your selling price, your food cost, the number of servings per day, and your opening hours. How about the all hidden costs? Has your soft serve vendor disclosed the hidden costs when calculating your application’s hypothetical net profits?

In fact by bringing in the hidden costs into the equation you have a much higher breakeven point to achieve (and you may not even realise it yet). Some hidden costs like energy appear to be rising in some countries, which could make your breakeven point that much higher on a year-by-year basis.

For example, the Mail Online (a British newspaper) released an article on 15 December 2011 called “Electricity bills to rocket by 25% because of 'green' targets, says Government” to emphasis this point. The article points out “that electricity prices are likely to rise by 41 per cent by 2020 in real terms.”

That may or may not be applicable to your location, but look at your electricity bill with some scrutiny, since it is hidden costs like this that are a real eye opener. Check with your vendor what your soft serve machine consumes, although it is important to note that one of our One-Shot® OS6 and OS7 dispensers consumes less than a 100 Watt domestic light bulb.

The hidden costs don’t end there with energy consumption, since you should ask your soft serve machine vendor about impact of the following costs:

- Equipment cost

- Heat emission

- Installation cost(s)

- Lost sales due to freeze-down time

- Sanitising

- Special wiring (if needed)

- Service

- Spares

- Waste

We would be very interested to hear how your breakeven point and Net Profit has been calculated. What you really need is something like a Kostamazin™ spreadsheet, which takes into account the hidden costs, using figures that you supply (and we can even liaise with your cost accountant to help verify the figures). That is precisely why we call it The Real Profit Story!

If you are intrigued about studying a comparison between One-Shot® and traditional liquid mix soft serve, we can sit down with you and discuss true cost accounting covering this. There will be applications where One-Shot® is more cost effective than traditional liquid mix soft serve, whereas other applications traditional liquid mix soft serve will be more cost effective than One-Shot®, but the point is that you can now calculate an impartial Real Net Profit.

Most certainly the One-Shot® OS6 and OS7 dispensers are inexpensive, so if you were an ice cream company or a franchise looking for expansion, you could be a lot of machines for a comparably small capital outlay. That also means that you could outfit a lot of sites quickly in the pursuit of grabbing market share.

If you are also risk adverse, the One-Shot® dispenser also has a low breakeven point, which is something to bear in mind in these times of austerity. Money is tight these days and opting for a One-Shot® dispenser might be right for your budget. You will be surprised about how inexpensive these machines are.

Big things are happening in America – ice cream manufacturers with rotary and linear in-line filling machines, please step forward

As you can see from the video of our appearance at the NACS SHOW 2011 in Chicago, big things are happening in the States, so we are on a recruiting driving for additional ice cream companies. We need ice cream dairies that have filling machines AND spare volume for our application.

The ideal specification that your filling machine should have is as follows:

- Rotary filling machine

- Capable of handling a cup rim size of 112mm

- Single or twin track

- Can also be a linear inline filling machine

We have already received numerous enquiries, which we are in the process of interviewing for suitability, but that does not stop our global search for additional ice cream companies with the correct filling equipment. If you are an industrial ice cream company, you should really be talking to us.

Booth 1163 is ready now and we can give you a further sneak preview of what you are about to see from us at the International Dairy Show – Atlanta. The machines are now primed to run, so you are in luck today, we have taken a short video for you to watch (you really need to be here).

The baby One-Shot machine, which is manufactured by Sanden Corporation, is superb and you can see from the video how small it really is. I want to thank Martin White, our chief engineer, who you see in this video demonstrating the baby One-Shot dispenser and the bigger SoftXpress machine.

We have already been extremely busy with people that have flown in for advanced discussions, so the show has surpassed expectations before it has even started, so we are more than pleased. You will also notice that we will be running The Real Profit Story on our LCD screens and we will be running the numbers.

This coming Monday are unveiling the next generation of soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machines at the International Dairy Show – Atlanta. This is your opportunity for a sneak preview because the next generation of soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machines are now on open display on Booth 1163.

Here is the SoftXpress fresh out of it's packaging (it is an amazing piece of soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt engineering).

Martin White, our chief engineer, loads the SoftXpress dispenser (notice that this is a two flavour soft serve machine).

Mystery packaging with Japanese writing? What you are seeing is our new baby One-Shot® dispenser, manufactured under licence by Sanden Corporation.

Ta da! The baby One-Shot® soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machine is now on display and ready to serve. Congratulations Sanden Corporation (mission accomplished).

Things are buzzing and Twirlees Ice Cream, one of our clients, will be visiting us at the International Dairy Show – Atlanta. They have an amazing ice cream truck concept that is well worth looking at (and I might add that it is a pretty awesome package).
